We all went to see it. This Gurudwara is built on top of a high hill. Once upon a time, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Govind Singh lived here and used to take iron from the armies of the Mughal emperors like Farru Khasiyar. The Gurudwara is built in the form of a small fort and is in such a place from where the incoming army can be seen from miles away.
This Gurdwara is considered very sacred in the eyes of the Sikh people. It is also called Keshgarh Sahib. It is so named because the head of Guru Tegh Bahadur was brought to this place and it was here that he was cremated. Many weapons are kept in the gurudwara as a memorial to the old Sikh heroes.
The Granthi sir showed us those weapons and also told their history in brief. This place is very beautiful to see. The Shivalik ranges are passing very close to it and this hill also looks like a part of it. On the high hill to the right was visible the temple of Naina Devi, which is considered very sacred in the eyes of Hindus.
The clouds that surrounded the night sky had not yet torn. Although it had not rained, the weather had become very pleasant and in the shadow of these clouds the Shivalik ranges had become even more beautiful by turning dark. We had to have lunch after reaching Ganguwal.
A good Dak Bungalow is built on the bank of Nangal canal in Ganguwal. We took afternoon rest here. By the time the food was ready, we went to see Ganguwal’s powerhouse. When viewed from outside, this powerhouse looked modest. But when he reached inside, he was left stunned by the surprise.
Two machines as high as a four-storey house were running on the power of water, from which electricity was being generated. How such big machines would have been installed here! And the strange arrangements that have been made for their maintenance and care, even after not fully understanding them, have understood so much that all this is a very big task.
One of these machines was generating 24000 kilowatts of electricity. This power station has been built on the Nagal Canal, which is a new canal of its kind in India. By evening, we reached Nangal. Nangal canal has been taken out by stopping the Sutlej river at Nangal. A huge dam has been built here, so that the entire Sutlej river water has been brought under control and it can be released into the canal or into the river at will.
Another great feature of this dam is that a tunnel has been made across the river at a depth of 70 feet underground on the river side. In this tunnel, water keeps seeping inside, which is pumped out by electric pumps, but from this leaking water, engineers can estimate how much water pressure is exerting on the structure of the dam and repair somewhere.
That’s not needed. Nangal is a small town and almost all the houses here are government houses. All this settlement is government. Those who go to work on the Bhakra dam during the day, they also return here in the evening. This newly settled city on the banks of the river Sutlej looked very lovely.

We boarded the bus and left for Bhakra. Bhakra is some ten miles from Nangal. There the train also goes and the motor can also go there. The road has gone along the banks of the Sutlej. This is a hilly place and a lot of care has to be taken while driving a motor here. There were notice boards everywhere, on which warnings were written to the motorists to drive carefully.
Just now we were away from Bhakra that we saw a Rakhar strap running off the road. This belt was moving with the help of machines. There were sand and pebbles lying on top of the belt, which were rapidly moving to one side as the belt rotated. It was found that this belt carries sand and sand from four and a half miles away to the Bhakra dam.

The visitors there told that two power stations will be built here, which will generate ninety thousand kilowatts of electricity. We climbed the mountain and saw both sides of the dam. The lake which is formed on the other side of the dam, although it was very small at this time, yet it looked very good.
We were told that at present this lake is of a total of twelve square miles. Once the dam is completed, it will be eighty square miles. We imagined that scene in our mind and there is no doubt that when this lake is completed, it will be really visible. For a long time, we watched the dam and other works around it and kept getting information about the dam from the visitors.
We returned around noon. We had lunch at Nangal and after that left for Chandigarh. Spent the night in Chandigarh. The next morning he woke up and looked around and saw Chandi Garh. Traveling in such a vast city is also not an easy task. The Government Secretariat and the High Court buildings appeared to be effective.
In the afternoon we left for Chandigarh from Delhi and reached Delhi by evening. It seems that Badal was waiting for us to reach Delhi. Because as soon as we reached Delhi, it started raining heavily.
