Essay on indian cinema and its effects on society

Essay on indian cinema and society

Indian Cinema is the most popular and cheapest entertainment of today’s era. Rich and poor, all people entertain their mind with this. There will hardly be any city in the country which does not have one or more cinemas. Inventions like rail, wire, telephone, radio etc did not become popular in India as soon as cinema. The first film in India ‘Harishchandra’ Sanu was made in 1613.

At that time only silent films were made. The emergence of spoken films took place after about fifteen years and the first talkie film ‘Palampara’ was produced by the Imperial Film Company in Bombay in 1931. But today, due to not only talking films, but also three-dimensional films, cinema scope, etc., due to color films, not only the picture of the scene, but the whole scene is presented alive.

The history of cinema is not the history of ten or twenty years. We see its beginning thousands of years ago in the form of plays. Dramas were liked in all countries of the world. People used to watch plays for entertainment. In Greece and Rome, dramas used to take place all night long for many days. Yet the entertainment through plays was not so accessible to the masses as the cinema of today.

The people who performed the drama had their own circles. A troupe could perform plays in only one place at a time and an auditorium could accommodate only a limited number of spectators. But now with the help of cinema the same play can be shown several times a day in hundreds of cities every day. The drama had many more difficulties due to the inconveniences of the theatre.

Only a small number of scenes can be displayed. But there is no such restriction in cinema. Mountains, rivers, colliding rails, burning cities and sinking ships can also be easily displayed on the screen of the cinema and by this the name of the audience can be excited and delighted much more than the drama. Cinema is closer to reality than drama. In the age of drama, not all actors in all theatrical troupes were good.

But the best actors and musicians can be obtained by spending a lot of money while making films in the cinema and their art can be enjoyed by the whole country or should be said by the people of the whole world. In fact, cinema has given a big blow to dramas. Though there are many similarities between plays and cinema, there is also a lot of difference between the two.

The scope of plays was very limited compared to that of cinema. They were played only for entertainment or to teach some preaching or ethics; But nowadays films of cinema are prepared for entertainment on the one hand, on the other hand they are also produced for the purpose of knowledge. We can get information about them even without visiting those countries.

Many important events are filmed, such as the coronation ceremony of the Queen of England or Nehru’s visit to Russia or Gandhi’s prayer meetings. Through these films, even those who were not present at the scene can see those incidents happening in front of their eyes. Not only this, but people who were not even born at the time of those events, they can also be blessed to see those events and those people after many years, seeing Gandhiji’s films even after a hundred years from now, people can see Gandhiji. Will be able to see. Apart from this, many films are also made from the point of view of pure education.

In relation to the life of wild animals or the operations done by the doctors, films are made for this purpose, in this way a lot of benefit can be taken from the cinema. The first advantage is that of entertainment. After a day or a week of fatigue, a person wants to rejuvenate his life. At that time he could get good entertainment for three hours by getting eight-ten or by paying one rupee, before the invention of cinema such entertainment was available only to kings and nobles, but now everyone can enjoy it.

The second advantage of cinema is Shanavardhana. Earlier people used to travel to distant countries and get knowledge about their customs, living habits and geography, for this they had to invest a lot of money and a lot of time. But now through films we can get information about all the countries and regions of the world. There is a negligible expenditure of both money and time in this. Cinema awakens the interest of art in man.

Man’s life is not only made for working hard, practicing arts and enjoying them is also the goal of life. Poetry, painting, music and acting are included in these four fine arts, and if the observer watches the cinema with discretion and diligence, then he can practice these four arts. Nowadays, cinema is being considered very useful in the field of education too, special films are made to educate both children and adults abroad.

The things which children get bored while reading in the book and are unable to remember even after reading them again and again, they grow up in the cinema, their influence settles so deeply on their mind that they do not forget them again with ease.

In this way, they can be given education in geography, history, science and subject matter very easily. Many useful things can be taught to adult people in relation to the rules of health, in relation to the prevention of diseases, about new methods of farming, about new tomorrow – factories and industries by showing them films and are also taught abroad.

But this does not mean that cinema is only a blessing and a blessing and there is no harm from it. Rather, the truth is that in our country cinema is making less profit and more harm, here most of the films are made either in mythological or religious way, or cheap entertainment.

These films are full of erotic scenes, scenes of theft, murder and cheating are shown, seeing which young men of raw intelligence are misguided. Cinema itself should take credit for the misadventures of thousands of people. It is true that entertainment has an important place in life and should be entertained, but entertainment also has its limits And the person who spends all his time and all money on entertainment, he can never progress in life.

Nowadays, many people here have got such a lick of cinema that they leave other important work and run towards cinema; Others spend money on cinema by reducing essential expenses. So much urge towards cinema and that too towards erotic erotic films is a sign of corrupted attitude, if taken in excess quantity, even nectar becomes poison.

Similarly, watching too many movies leads to wastage of money, time and energy. Parmik films are often to promote superstition, some good teachings and instructions have been given in them to say, but it is better not to give them the language with which they are given.

With the increase in education in the country, superstitions will decrease and the production of such so called religious films, which is still very less, will be completely eliminated. Cinema has done a lot of useful work in the field of social reform and there is still a lot of scope in this field.

Many films helped in stopping mismatched marriages, ending the dowry system, removing untouchability, and new problems of this type would continue to be faced by the society. Filmmakers can provide useful help to resolve them. Some films are also made of espionage dung, in which there is a display of action, adventure scenes and intelligence.

The thrill of these films is further enhanced by the new three-dimensional system. Young people of a certain age watch these films with great interest. If these films do not inspire the youth towards crime, then there is no fault in them.

The motivation of crime can be curbed in such a way that all such films end up showing the victory of the police and justice and the defeat of the criminals. India ranks second in the world in terms of film production. Most of the films are produced in America and second in India.

But from the point of view of arts and crafts, the standard of Indian films is inferior to many other countries. Not only is the photography of foreign films good, but their storytelling, their acting and their direction are also excellent, with such a large number of films being produced in India, the large-scale import of foreign films into the country cannot be justified.

There are many scenes of nudity and kisses in foreign films. There should be no fault in them from the level of morality of foreign countries, but from the point of view of Indian life, those films can be called obscene, this thing becomes even more clear when we look at the fact that among those who watch English films, such people There are only a few, who can enjoy the English language of the films.

Most of the viewers only watch them to see the nude makeup. Many film-watchers received from abroad are motivated to commit crimes. The exhibition of such films in India is prohibited by law. That law should be used strictly. Till now cinema has done less service and more service in India.

Even after independence, there was no appreciable change in the attitude of the filmmakers. But it should be done that now those people will recognize their responsibility towards the country and will use their power and resources only for the betterment of the country. Cinema has to play a very important part in the development of the country.
